Throttle Plate - PFI: Adjustments
Fig. 1 Butterfly Valve Adjustment:
CAUTION: Any adjustment must be carried out on both butterfly valves.
1. Remove both air cleaners. Loosen locknut on throttle butterfly stop screw. Back off screw. Ensure throttle butterfly valve is fully closed.
2. Insert a 0.002 in (0.05 mm) feeler gauge between top of valve and housing to hold valve open, Fig 1.
3. Adjust stop screw to just touch stop arm and tighten locknut with feeler gauge in position. Fig 1.
4. Remove feeler gauge.
5. Press stop arm against stop screw and repeat steps 1 through 4 on other side of engine.
5. Seal threads of adjusting screws and locknuts using a blob of paint.
6. Install air-cleaners.
7. Check throttle linkage adjustment.
8. Check operation of throttle switch.
9. Check kickdown switch adjustment.
