Low Pressure Sensor / Switch: Description and Operation

High-Side Low Pressure Switch
From mid 1986 model year, Jaguar discontinued the thermal limiter and superheat switch and began using a high side low pressure switch. If your unit has a thermal limiter mounted at the upper left front of the compressor, see Thermal Limiting Fuse. Thermal Limiting Fuse

The high side low pressure switch is held closed by pressure in the A / C system. If Freon pressure deteriorates, the switch opens and disengages the compressor clutch. This is to prevent damage to the compressor.
