SUBJECT: ENGINE CAM COVER

A new cam cover with additional internal ribs for added strength has been introduced. This has enabled the torque figure for tightening the cam cover dome nuts to be increased. The new cam cover was introduced at engine numbers:-
8L 137746 - 4.2 - EAC 5464 L/H EAC 5465 R/H
The dome nut torque has been increased to:-
7-8 FT. LBS. 0 . 98 -1.12kg.m. 9.5-11 N-m
It is NOT recommended that earlier vehicles be fitted with this cover. The engine number is the only external means of identifying the latest cover.
