Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Description and Operation

RADIATOR & CONDENSER FANS

The radiator fan operates when the thermo switch is on, with the engine running. The A/C condenser fan operates when the A/C cycling switch is on with the engine running.

THERMO SWITCH

Upon rise of the coolant temperature in the radiator, the contact point of the thermo switch closes, the radiator fan relay coil is energized, radiator fan relay operates the radiator fan.

CYCLING SWITCH

Upon increase of refrigerant pressure in the A/C condenser, the contact point of the cycling switch closes. Each of the condenser fan and radiator fan relay coils are energized, operating the condenser and radiator fans.
