SERVICE INFORMATION
Vertical scratches on door window glass may be caused by foreign material such as sand being trapped between the glass and the weatherstrip retaining clips. Install new glass and replace clips with self-tapping screws to prevent recurrence of the problem (Figure 1).
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove door trim.
2. Remove door glass.
3. Remove and discard clips from waist seal.
4. Drill five 2.5 mm holes into the waist seal at the former clip locations.
5. Apply silicone sealant to the flanges of the screws.
6. Install screws into the holes and tighten firmly, until the screw head sinks into the rubber.
7. Install new door glass.
8. Raise and lower the glass to check for any interference. Be sure to check at the flange of the outer door panel and at the heads of the screws.
9. If there is interference at the flange of the outer door panel, slightly bend the flange outward.
10. Reinstall door trim.
