The purpose of the air switching valve, Fig. 20, is to switch air flow from the air pump. It is operated by manifold vacuum and air pump pressure which are switched by the vacuum switching valve. When manifold vacuum flows to pipe (1), the air switching valve allows air to flow from air pump to check valve. When air pump pressure flows to pipe (1), switched by vacuum switching valve, air switching valve shuts air passage to check valve and opens port to air cleaner.
