Water Pump: Service and Repair

Fig. 6 Water Pump, Removal:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove the four bolts attaching the lower engine cover and remove the cover.
3. Drain the cooling system by removing the drain plug on the lower part of the radiator.
4. On models without air-conditioning, remove the nuts attaching the engine fan and remove the fan.
5. On models with air-conditioning, proceed as follows:
a. Remove the air pump and alternator mounting bolts, then remove the fan and air pump drive belt.
b. Remove the four bolts attaching the engine fan and pulley, then remove the fan together with the fan pulley and air pump drive pulley.
c. Remove the four bolts attaching the fan set plate and fan pulley, then remove the set plate and pulley.
6. Remove the six bolts attaching the water pump and remove the pump.
7. Reverse procedure to install.
