SERVICE PROCEDURE
NOTE:
You do NOT not need to remove the rear sunshade to do this repair It is shown removed from the car in the following pictures for illustration purposes only.
1. Remove the rear sunshade finisher (attached to the top of the rear sunshade see Figure 1).
2. Use the rear sunshade switch to raise the sunshade to the fully open position. For the arm that is binding you may apply light hand pressure to help raise it up.
CAUTION:
Do not apply excessive force to raise or lower the rear sunshade doing so will cause permanent damage to the rear sunshade.
3. Spray Nissan Brake Cleaner on a clean cloth. Then clean both right and left rear sunshade upper arms at the locations shown in Figure 2. This is where the rubber bumpers will be applied in the next step.
4. Peel the adhesive backing from the rubber stoppers. Then apply the rubber stoppers to both left and right sunshade upper arms. Place them 3.25 inches (83 % mm) from the base of the sunshade upper arm mount (see Figure 3).
5. Lower the rear sunshade using the rear sunshade switch.
6. Make sure that there is at least a 1.0 mm clearance between the rubber bumpers and the rear parcel shelf finisher (see Figure 4).
7. If the clearance is less than 1 mm: Carefully use a blade to cut enough material from the underside of the rear parcel shelf finisher to increase the clearance to 1 mm or more (see Figure 5).
CAUTION:
Take extra care while cutting to prevent damage to other nearby components.
8. Re-attach the rear sunshade finisher.
9. Operate the rear sunshade using the rear sunshade switch to make sure that the rear sunshade operates properly.
