Rear Door Window Regulator: Service and Repair

REAR DOOR GLASS AND REGULATOR




Removal and Installation

REMOVAL
1. Remove the rear door finisher.
2. Remove the rear door out side molding.
3. Remove the sealing screen.




4. Operate the power window switch to raise/lower the door window until the glass mounting bolts can be seen.




5. Remove the partition sash from the glass run.
6. Remove the partition sash mounting bolt (lower) and screw (upper) to remove the sash.




7. Remove the glass mounting bolts, and remove the door glass.
8. Remove the partition glass from the panel.




9. Remove the power window motor mounting bolts, and remove the regulator from the panel.
10. Disconnect the connector for the regulator assembly.

INSTALLATION
Install in the reverse order of removal.




INSPECTION AFTER REMOVAL
Check the regulator assembly for the following items. If a malfunction is detected, replace or grease it.
- Gear wear
- Regulator deformation
- Spring damage
- Grease condition for each sliding part

The arrows in the figure show the application points of the body
grease.

SETTING AFTER INSTALLATION

Setting of Limit Switch
When any of the following work be done, reset the limit switch (integrated in the motor).
- Removal and installation of the regulator.
- Removal and installation of the motor from the regulator.
- Operate the regulators as a unit.
- Removal and installation of the glass.
- Removal and installation of the glass run.

Resetting
Remove the window regulator assembly from the door panel, follow the steps below.
1. To remove the window motor from the regulator assembly, operate the power window switch until the window motor mounting screws can be seen.
2. Remove the window motor from window regulator.
3. Connect the window motor to the switch harness. And run the motor more than 5 seconds to upward position by using power window switch.
4. Assemble the window motor and window regulator, then install it to the door.
5. Install window glass to the regulator assembly.
6. Use the Manual up position of power window switch to run the regulator to the top of its travel to set the limit switch.
7. Use the Manual down position of the power window switch to run the regulator to the bottom of its travel.

CAUTION: Do not use Auto up or Auto down functions for step 6 and 7.
