Power Window (Front) - Inoperative

2000 I30 FRONT POWER WINDOW - NO OPERATION

APPLIED VEHICLES:
2000 I30 (CA33)

APPLIED VINS:
Vehicles built before - JNKCA31A*YT209120 (left-hand side)
JNKCA31A*YT216175 (right-hand side)

APPLIED DATES:
Vehicles built before - April 3, 2000 (left-hand side)
- June 1, 2000 (right-hand side)

SERVICE INFORMATION

If an Applied 2000 I30 exhibits the following symptom:

^ Either front power window motor does not operate,

The cause may be:

^ The auto up/down function of either the main or assist power window switch may be intermittently jamming or sticking, causing the related power window motor assembly to stop working.

Use the information in this bulletin to confirm the incident and determine if the affected power window motor assembly (left-hand, right-hand, or both) needs replacement.





If an Applied 2000 I30 needs power window motor replacement, the power window main switch assembly (and the power window assist switch assembly, if applicable) should also be replaced with the ones from the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin. See Figure 1 for location of the front, left-hand power window motor assembly and power window main switch assembly.

Use the Service Procedures in this bulletin to address either of these issues, should they occur.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Left-Hand Power Window:

1. Confirm that the front, left-hand power window is not operating.

2. Using the EL section of the appropriate Service Manual, diagnose the power window circuit.

^ If the Trouble Diagnosis section indicates motor replacement, proceed to Step 3 below.

^ If the Trouble Diagnosis section indicates cause(s) other than the motor, repair as needed.

3. Remove the power window main switch assembly from the switch finisher.

4. Disconnect the switch assembly.

5. Replace the power window motor assembly.

6. Re-connect the switch assembly.

7. Verify proper operation of the power window.

8. If the vehicle was built before the APPLIED VINS/APPLIED DATES (left-hand side) listed in this bulletin, replace the power window main switch assembly also.

Right-Hand Power Window:

1. Confirm that the front, right-hand power window is not operating.

2. Using the EL section of the appropriate Service Manual, diagnose the power window circuit.

^ If the Trouble Diagnosis section indicates motor replacement, proceed to Step 3 below.

^ If the Trouble Diagnosis section indicates cause(s) other than the motor, repair as needed.

3. Remove the power window assist switch assembly from the switch finisher.

4. Disconnect the switch assembly.

5. Replace the power window motor assembly.

6. Re-connect the switch assembly.

7. Verify proper operation of the power window.

8. If the vehicle was built before the APPLIED VINS/APPLIED DATES (right-hand side) listed in this bulletin, replace both the power window main switch and power window assist switch assemblies also.
