SERVICE INFORMATION
If a 2000 I30 displays either of the following symptoms:
^ Rattle or buzz noise coming from the rear parcel shelf board when listening to low frequency/high bass audio.
^ Distortion type noise from the rear sub-woofer.
the cause(s) may be:
^ During cold weather operation, the trunk torsion bars may rattle against the torsion bar spacer block. This may occur when listening to low frequency/high bass audio, or when driving over rough roads.
^ The rear parcel shelf board hold-down clips are not firmly seated in the parcel shelf.
^ Low bass frequency of the Bose (TM) rear sub-woofer may be vibrating the center seat belt retractor steel inertia ball or causing the rear parcel shelf board to flex and vibrate.
Use the Diagnostic Procedure below to verify the condition exists. Once verified, complete the following areas of the Service Procedure to correct the condition:
^ Torsion Bar/Torsion Bar Spacer Block Securing Procedure.
^ Secure Parcel Shelf Board Hold-Down Clips.
^ Q-Pads (TM) Installation Procedure (if necessary).

Please reference the "Squeak and Rattle Repairs" Section "UX" of the current Infiniti "Warranty Flat Rate Information" Manual and choose the Op Code, or combination of Op Codes, that best reflects the repair(s) performed.
Expense Details:
Pro-rate the bulk "Squeak and Rattle Repairs" material(s) and claim only the amount that is actually used in the repair(s). Claim this amount using Expense Code "022." Do not claim the repair material(s) part number(s) on the claim.
