TRUNK LID DOES NOT OPEN WHEN TRUNK OPENER BUTTON IS PRESSED, BUT ALL OTHER FUNCTIONS ARE OK

System Description
Remote controller signal is inputted to smart entrance control unit. (The antenna of the system is combined with smart entrance control unit.) The multi-remote control system controls operation of the power door lock, interior lamp, panic alarm, trunk lid opener and hazard and horn reminder.
When ignition key is not inserted in key cylinder and a TRUNK OPEN signal is sent from remote controller, trunk lid opener actuator opens trunk lid.

Possible Cause
- Trunk lid opener actuator
- key switch
- Circuit open or short
- Remote controller

Diagnostic Repair Procedure (for confirmed incidents)
1. Check remote controller function: Use CONSULT-II DATA MONITOR in MULTI REMOTE ENT to confirm that TRUNK BTN/SIG indicates ON when TRUNK button is pushed. Confirm OFF when the other buttons are pushed.
a. Replace remote controller.
2. Check trunk lid opener cancel lever position.
3. Check trunk lid opener operation with trunk lid opener switch.
a. Trunk lid opener actuator component test: Trunk lid opener actuator should operate when battery voltage is applied to trunk lid opener actuator.
4. Check trunk lid opener actuator operation: Perform CONSULT-II ACTIVE TEST in MULTI REMOTE ENT. Confirm that trunk lid opener operates when TRUNK OUTPUT is ON.
a. Check circuit between trunk lid opener actuator and smart entrance control unit
5. Check key switch input signal: Use CONSULT-II DATA MONITOR in MULTI REMOTE ENT to confirm that KEY ON SW indicates ON when key is inserted into ignition key cylinder. Confirm OFF when key is removed from ignition key cylinder.
a. Check power supply to the key switch.
b. Check circuit between the key switch and smart entrance control unit: Continuity/No shorts to ground.
c. Key switch component test: Continuity should exist when the key is inserted; no continuity with the key removed.
