Power Door Lock Doesn't Operate W/Frnt Dr LH Key Cyl Operation

POWER DOOR LOCK DOES NOT OPERATE WITH FRONT DOOR LH KEY CYLINDER OPERATION

System Description
The lock/unlock switch (LH and RH) on door trim can lock and unlock all doors.
If the door key cylinder switch on driver's door is turned to LOCK, all doors will be locked. When turning UNLOCK once, driver's door is unlocked; turning to UNLOCK again within five seconds will unlock all doors.

Possible Cause
- Door key cylinder switch
- Circuit open or short




Diagnostic Repair Procedure (for confirmed incidents)
1. Check power supply to smart entrance control unit.
2. Check ground circuit for the smart entrance control unit.
3. Check front door key cylinder switch input signal: Use CONSULT-II DATA MONITOR in DOOR LOCK to confirm that KEY CYL LK-SW indicates ON when key inserted in front key cylinder is turned to LOCK. Confirm that KEY CYL UN-SW indicates ON when key inserted in front key cylinder is turned to UNLOCK.
a. Check circuit between smart entrance control unit and front door key cylinder: Continuity/No shorts to ground.
b. Check between front door key cylinder switch and ground: Continuity.
c. Front door key cylinder switch component test:
Check continuity between front door key cylinder switch terminals. See illustration.
