Key Reminder Door System Does Not Operate Properly

KEY REMINDER DOOR SYSTEM DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY

System Description
The lock/unlock switch (LH and RH) on door trim can lock and unlock all doors.
If the door key cylinder switch on driver's door is turned to LOCK, all doors will be locked. When turning to
UNLOCK once driver's door is unlocked; turning to UNLOCK again within five seconds will unlock all doors.
If ignition key is in ignition key cylinder and one or more doors are open, setting the lock/unlock switch to
"LOCK" locks the doors once but then immediately unlocks them. This is the KEY REMINDER DOOR SYSTEM.

Possible Cause
- Door switch
- Key switch
- Door lock actuator
- Circuit open or short
- Smart entrance control unit

Diagnostic Repair Procedure (for confirmed incidents)
1. Check power supply to smart entrance control unit.
2. Check ground circuit for smart entrance control unit.
3. Check door switch input signal: Use CONSULT-II DATA MONITOR in DOOR LOCK to confirm that DOOR SW-ALL indicates ON when any doors are open. Confirm OFF when all doors are closed.
a. Check circuits between each door switch and smart entrance control unit: Continuity/No shorts to ground.
b. Door switch component test: Continuity through the switch in the released position (door open), and no continuity through the switch in pressed position (door closed).
c. Check ground circuit between each door switch and ground: Continuity.
4. Check key switch input signal: Use CONSULT-II DATA MONITOR in DOOR LOCK to confirm that KEY ON SW indicates ON when key is inserted to ignition key cylinder. Confirm OFF when key is removed from ignition key cylinder.
a. Check power supply to key switch.
b. Check circuit between key switch and smart entrance control unit: Continuity/No shorts to ground.
c. Key switch component test: Continuity through the switch with key inserted, no continuity with key removed.
5. Check door lock actuator operation: Perform CONSULT-II ACTIVE TEST in DOOR LOCK. Confirm that all doors are locked (motor is operated) when ALL D/LK MTR is ON, driver's door is unlocked (motor is operated) when DR D/UN MTR is ON and other doors are unlocked (motor is operated) when NON DR D/UN is ON.
6. If door lock actuator cannot operate properly in step 5, check smart entrance control unit output to door lock actuators:
Check voltage for door lock actuator. See illustration.

- Door lock actuator front LH

- Door lock actuator front RH and rear
a. Replace smart entrance control unit.
7. Check door lock actuator:
Apply 12V direct current to door lock actuator and check operation. See illustration.

8. Check circuit between smart entrance control unit and door lock actuator.
