Reset Procedure

As stated in the owner's and service manuals, if the engine fails to start when using a registered key, perform the following procedure:

1. Insert a registered key in the ignition switch. Turn the key to the "ON" position. Do not start the engine. Wait at least five seconds.

2. Return the key to the "OFF" position.

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 one additional time (total of two cycles).

4. Start the engine.

NOTE:
If the engine still will not start, refer to the 1999 130 Service Manual or ASIST for further diagnostic information.

The above RESET PROCEDURE can be found in Section 2 of the 1999 130 Owner1s Manual and Section GI-3 of the 1999 I30 Service Manual.

CAUTION:
External transponders such as Mobil SpeedpassTM or other ignition keys containing transponders imbedded in the key head must be kept separate from the NATS ignition key when starting the car.

These transponders can cause RF interference, put the vehicle into anti-theft mode and create a no start condition.
