NATS C/U Initialization and Key Registration Procedure: Overview

When the NATS ignition key, IMMU (immobiliser control unit), or ECM (ECCS control unit) are replaced, C/U initialization is necessary. It is also necessary when registering keys and as part of many NATS self diagnosis procedures.

NOTE:
IVIS diagnosis cannot be accessed or followed without the correct software loaded into CONSULT. Initialize the NATS-E980U CONSULT program card before continuing.

The key initialization procedure will also erase all previously registered key ID's. Have all keys that are to be used with the vehicle on hand before starting this procedure. The keys must be kept separate during the initialization procedure to prevent RF interference between keys. This RF interference can affect key initialization.
