OBD-II "A/T INITIAL START" TROUBLE CODE

"A/T INITIAL START" may appear when you access the self-diagnostic results in the A/T system using CONSULT (see Figure 1).

This message indicates that the self-diagnosis results of self-learning have not been memorized in the A/T control unit. This message is stored in the self-diagnosis memory of the A/T control unit whenever the following systems are disrupted:

- The battery cable is disconnected

- The power supply line is short circuited

- The connector at the A/T control unit has poor contact

- The fuse in the power supply circuit burns out

- The connector from the A/T control unit is disconnected

- The A/T control unit is replaced

- The battery runs down or the battery is replaced.

Service Procedure

Figure 2.:

Erase "A/T INITIAL START" from the self-diagnostic results using CONSULT (see Figure 2). An actual DTC would have replaced "A/T INITIAL START" if there had been an incident with the transmission after the power to the A/T control unit was interrupted. Therefore, it is not necessary to drive the vehicle after erasing the DTC.
