OBD-II Self Diagnosis


OBD-II SELF-DIAGNOSIS
- A/T self-diagnosis is performed by the A/T control unit in combination with the ECM. The results can be read through the code indicated on the diagnostic information display or the blinking pattern of the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). (Refer to chart below.)

- The self-diagnostic results indicated by the MIL are automatically stored in both the ECM and A/T control unit memories.

NOTE: Erase DTCs after repairs are completed to avoid unnecessary blinking of the MIL.

- The following self-diagnostic items can be detected using ECM self-diagnostic results mode only when the diagnostic information display does not indicate any malfunctions.
- Improper shifting to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gear position
- Improper torque converter clutch operation.
