Air Bag Module Replace

Before attempting SRS service, turn ignition Off, then disconnect battery ground cable. Wait at least 10 minutes after disconnecting cable before performing any procedures. The SRS uses special bolts which are coated with a bonding agent. Discard old bolts after removal, then replace with new ones.




DRIVER SIDE
1. Disarm SRS as described under Air Bag Arming and Disarming.
2. Remove lower lid from steering wheel, then disconnect air bag module electrical connector.
3. Remove steering wheel side lids, then remove air bag module attaching bolts with T50 Torx bit.
4. Carefully lift module from steering wheel.
5. Reverse procedure to install and tighten bolts to specifications, then arm SRS as described under Air Bag Arming and Disarming.









PASSENGER SIDE
1. Disarm SRS as described under Air Bag Arming and Disarming.
2. Remove glove compartment lid and connector bracket, then disconnect passenger air bag inflator electrical connector from body connector.
3. Remove cluster lid and audio system, then lower instrument panel including glove compartment.
4. Remove passenger air bag module mounting bolts and screws, then module.
5. Reverse procedure to install and tighten bolts to specifications, then arm SRS as described under Air Bag Arming and Disarming.
