1994 G20 IGNITION TIMING AND IDLE SPEED CHECKING/ADJUSTING PRECAUTIONS

APPLIED MODELS: 1994 G20 (P10)

APPLIED V.I.N/PRODUCTION DATE: All 1994 G20 Vehicles

SERVICE INFORMATION

The 1994 G20 is equipped with the next generation On-Board Diagnostics System [OBD-II].

To ensure that adjustments are made accurately and that Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) are not inadvertently stored in the OBD-II memory, observe the following precautions when checking/adjusting the ignition timing and/or idle speed on these vehicles:

1. Do not disconnect the Auxiliary Air Control (AAC) Valve to check/adjust idle speed.

2. Use CONSULT ["Work Support Mode"] to accurately adjust ignition timing and base idle speed [refer to 1994 G20 Service Manual, page EC-26 for the procedure].

Note
It is not necessary to disconnect any electrical connectors by utilizing CONSULT during this procedure.

3. Use CONSULT ["Self.Diagnosis Mode"] to check for any stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) in the OBD-II memory. If any connectors are loose or are accidentally disconnected, you must reset the OBD-II memory to erase any inadvertent code, refer to ITB94-021 (EF&EC94-003).
