SERVICE INFORMATION

"A/T INITIAL START" may appear when you access the self-diagnostic results in the A/T system using CONSULT.

This message indicates that the self-diagnosis results of self-learning have not been memorized in the automatic transmission control unit.

This message is stored in the self-diagnostic memory of the automatic transmission control unit whenever the following systems are disrupted:

- The battery cable is disconnected

- The power supply line is short circuited

- The connector at the control unit has poor contact

- The fuse in the power supply circuit burns out

- The connector from the control unit is disconnected

- The control unit is replaced

- The battery runs down

- The battery is replaced

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Erase "A/T INITIAL START" from the self-diagnostic results using CONSULT.

Since an actual A/T DTC will over-ride "A/T Initial Start" code, it is not necessary to drive the vehicle after erasing the code. An actual DTC code will replace "A/T Initial start" if there had been an actual incident with the transmission after the power to the transmission control unit was interrupted.
