Idle Control Unit/IACV-FICD:

PURPOSE
Increases idle speed when the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor is engaged.

OPERATION
When voltage is applied to the coil of the A/C compressor clutch, voltage is also supplied to the IACV - Fast Idle control Device (FICD).The FICD becomes energized and opens an additional air pasage. Air by-passes the throttle valve, thereby raising idle speed.
