System Operation Check

The system operation check is to check for proper active suspension system operation. The active suspension system has three functions: a function that changes control pressure for all four wheels at the same time, a function that changes it for any one wheel, and a function that activates the fail-safe valve.
Extreme care should be taken when conducting system operation checks since the vehicle moves up and down greatly.

All Wheel Vibration

1. After completing Oil Leak Check, using CONSULT tool, touch NEXT. Display will then show ``10. VIBRATE ALL WHEELS.''
2. Before conducting all wheel vibrator check, ensure vehicle is placed on flat surface with engine idling.
3. Ensure there are no obstacles which may hamper up-down vehicle movement.
4. Release parking brakes to eliminate friction which may occur during vehicle height changes. Ensure gear selector is set to ``P'' and foot brake is released.

5. Touch START on CONSULT. Display will now show control pattern shown in Fig. 40 and all four wheels will vibrate simultaneously.
6. While all wheels are being vibrated, both flow control and fail-safe valves are held open.
7. Ensure vehicle moves up and down smoothly without noise and vibration.

Single Wheel Vibration

When either ``11. VIBRATE F/R WHEEL'' through ``14. VIBRATE R/L WHEEL'' shown on CONSULT display is selected, only selected wheel can be vibrated i a pattern similar to all wheels vibration control pattern. Fig. 40.

Fail-Safe Function

1. Check that wheel vibration checks have been completed while observing CONSULT display.
2. Call up ``15. FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION'' mode on CONSULT display.
3. Ensure engine is idling on flat surface and no obstacles interfere with vehicle roll.
4. Release parking brakes to remove friction which may occur while vehicle height changes.
5. Ensure gear selector is set to ``P'' and foot brake is released.
6. Touch START on display. Control pattern shown in Fig. 41 will appear. Each wheel and fail-safe valve is controlled.
7. Flow control valve is held open during fail-safe function checks.
8. Ensure vehicle rolls to right or left and quickly returns to level position after fail-safe valve is closed.
9. After completing fail-safe function checks, touch ``END'' on START display.
