SERVICE INFORMATION:

This Bulletin is intended to assist in diagnosing and servicing of a J30 if the customer states that the doors will neither lock manually nor by keyless remote operation; additionally, the audible key reminder may continue to chime afier the key is removed.

INSPECTION/SERVICE PROCEDURE:

1. To evaluate for proper "Key Reminder Switch" function, refer to the "Electrical Components Inspection" procedure on Page BF-26 of the 1993 Infiniti J30 Service Manual for additional information.

With the key in the ignition, check for continuity between terminals 83 and 84 at the ignition key switch. With the key out of the ignition, there will not be continuity at these terminals.

2. If electrical testing of the lock key assembly confirms that the switch is not operating properly, replace [*] the ignition lock assembly, P/N 48700-11Y26.

[*] NOTE: Prior to replacement of the ignition lock assembly, have the new ignition lock assembly "re-keyed" to the old key code. A qualified locksmith may be contracted to perform this operation. IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO REPLACE AN ENTIRE VEHICLE LOCK SET FOR THIS INCIDENT REPAIR.
