Fuel Pump Control Unit: Description and Operation
PURPOSEThe Fuel Pump Control Module adjusts the voltage supplied to the fuel pump to control fuel quantity.
OPERATION
The Fuel Pump Control Module will supply full battery voltage to the Fuel Pump:
- For one second when the ignition switch is turned "on".
- When the engine is cranking.
- For 30 seconds after engine starts when engine coolant temperature is above 50°C (122°F).
- When engine coolant temperature is below 10°C (50°F)
- When the engine is running with a medium to heavy load.
The Fuel Pump Control Module will supply approximately. 8 Volts DC to the Fuel Pump:
- When any condition OTHER than the above exists.
