SERVICE INFORMATION

Some J30 owners may complain that the power door locks intermittently lock when a door is slammed or when the vehicle is driven on rough or irregular road surfaces, especially during periods of high heat and humidity. This incident may be caused by a momentary open in the door "lock knob switch" circuit, which serves as a signal to the door lock timer to lock all doors. New door lock timer assemblies are available which have an increased delay to ignore momentary opens in the door "lock knob switch" circuit. However, this door lock timer will not be effective if the vehicle has poor connections anywhere in the door "lock knob switch" circuit.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Check the connections in the "Lock Knob Switch" circuit for each door. Make sure they are clean and tight, that no connector pins are bent or damaged. Repair as necessary.

2. If the "lock knob switch" circuit connections are all firm and the incident continues to occur replace the door lock timer with a countermeasure unit as shown.
