G20 WIND NOISE FROM SUNROOF AREA

APPLIED MODEL
All G20's with sunroof

SERVICE INFORMATION:

Some G20 owners may complain of a wind noise or whistle coming from the sunroof area, often when traveling at speeds above 35 mph. The noise may be caused by a small pinhole in the body sealer at the rear C-pillar area. Sealing the pinhole with silicone or body sealer will resolve the whistle noise.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

1. Determine if the noise is being generated by a leaking sunroof weatherstrip by carefully taping off the edges of the sunroof panel and test driving the vehicle. If the noise is still present, proceed to step 2. If the noise is reduced or eliminated by taping the edges of the sunroof panel, check the adjustment of the sunroof panel and the condition of the weatherstrip.

2. Open both rear doors and partially remove the weatherstrip/rain channel. In the area shown below, check for gaps or pinholes in the body sealer which may allow air to pass and produce the whistle noise. Seal any pinholes found with silicone or body scaler.

3. Test drive to verify repair effectiveness.
