Spark Plug: Service and Repair

CAUTION:
- Checking and adjusting plug gaps are not required between renewals.





- Never use a wire brush for cleaning.
- If plug tip is covered with carbon, a spark plug cleaner can be used.

Cleaner air pressure: 588kPa (85 psi)
Cleaning time: Less than 20 seconds


Removing Air Intake Duct:





REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the intake air duct (for left bank only).

Ornament Cover Removal:





2. Remove the ornament cover for the ignition coils.

Ignition Coil Harness Connector:

3. Remove the ignition coil harness terminal connectors.

Ignition Coil Bracket Removal:





4. Remove the hold-down bolts for the ignition coil(s) and lift the coil assembly straight up.

Spark Plug Location:








5. Remove the spark plugs with a 5/8 in (16 mm) plug socket.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the spark plugs and torque to:

20 - 29 Nm (14 - 22 ft lbs)

2. Apply a small amount of di-electric compound to the inside of the ignition coil boots.
3. Reinstall the ignition coil and tighten the fasteners.
4. Reinstall the air intake duct.
