Noisy/Chatter Operation
1. Spray silicone (wet) into the run rubber channel and operate the window up and down several times.2. If the window operates normally with no noise/chatter, replace the run rubber and release the vehicle.
NOTE:
Silicone spray is commonly used but is only temporarily effective. Infiniti has determined that replacing the run rubber may eliminate the need to replace other window components in the future.
3. If noise is still present, perform a regulator adjustment as follows (see Figure 1):
A. Remove the door trim.
B. Loosen the four attaching bolts used to secure the regulator to the door panel.
C. Move the window up and down several times.
D. With the window in the up (closed) position, tighten the upper attaching bolts (A).
E. Move the window to the down (open) position and tighten the lower attaching bolts (B).
F. Move the window up and down several times and check for noise/chatter.
G. If there is no noise/chatter, replace the trim. Spray silicone on the run rubber and release the vehicle.
4. If noise is still present, remove the regulator and visually inspect for a frayed cable and any broken plastic guides, plastic channel or cable drum (see Figure 2). Also perform a functional check by holding the regulator channel and manually moving it up and down several times to see it any binding occurs.
5. If any of the above conditions exist, replace the regulator and run rubber.
6. If the above conditions do not exist, reuse the existing regulator and replace the run rubber.
