G20 FUEL INJECTOR SELECTION

APPLIED MODEL: 1991-92 G20







1991 (and some 1992) G20 vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, have fuel injectors which differ in specification and color. This is not an error; the A/T model was fitted from the factory with fuel injectors of differing specifications. The # 1 injector differs from the other three by part number and is indicated by a paint marking on the injector body (refer to table). This configuration, which includes unique intake manifold and ECU specifications, was adopted on 1991 A/T models to meet emission performance requirements. The M/T model uses a third part number without a color code.


Revised Design






The fuel injection system has been revised to use the same fuel injector (P/N 16600-53J00) for both the A/T and M/T model. This revision also included a change to the ECU and intake manifold. When servicing the fuel injectors on all 1991 and som 1992 A/T models (built before the revision; VIN #300385), use the part numbers shown in the table above. All G20 vehicles built after this VIN use the same fuel injector (P/N 16600-53J00).

IMPORTANT: Interchangeability must be carefully observed as the driveability and emission performance may be affected.


Interchangeability notes:
*1. Former part number not changed.

*2. Vehicles with new injectors must also use the new intake manifold and ECU.

*3. Must be used with new injectors; may be used with former injectors.
