THEFT WARNING SYSTEM WON'T ARM
APPLIED MODEL: 1991 G20 (P10)
APPLIED VINS: 202806 to 203267
SERVICE INFORMATION
Intermittently, the security system on the 1991 G20 may not arm. The trunk security switch uses two magnetic reed switches (a tamper switch and an unlock switch) in a common housing. The magnet for the unlock switch may affect tamper switch operation.
The tamper switch can be shielded using the following procedure.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove the trunk lid interior finisher.
2. Remove the security switch from the lock.
NOTE: Do not force the switch. To release the plastic tangs, reach through the adjacent access hole and and gently lift each tang.
3. Cut a piece of .00811 thick .5" x 1.0" steel which will be glued to the body of the tamper switch in the position shown below.
NOTE: Snap-on has a 12" feeler gauge (P/N FB6BO08) which can be cut to provide countermeasure shields for 12 vehicles.
4. Apply a thin layer of cyanoacrylic glue, two stage epoxy or adhesive (Nissan P/N 999MP-A4025), to the steel and press it firmly against the switch for 5 minutes, centered over the area shown above.
Wipe off any excess adhesive to prevent interference with the lock arm.
5. Reinstall security switch and check for proper operation.
