BUFFING INFINITI PAINT

APPLIED MODELS: Infiniti Q45 (G50)
Infiniti M30 (F31)

SERVICE INFORMATION

The fluorine clear coat used on Infiniti vehicles is an "industry first" in clear coat finish technology. Advertising and Owner's Manual literature will feature the new coating as follows:

^ Needs no waxing for many years. Clear coat beads water and shines like a freshly waxed surface.

^ Dirt has less of a tendency to adhere to the surface, which makes washing easier.

The original finish quality and no-wax characteristics of this clear coat must be maintained during scratch or minor transportation damage repair. The clear coat depth is 1.5 to 2.0 mils. thick and can be buffed to remove minor damage which does not penetrate the clear coat finish. Swirl marks caused by improper buffing can also be removed. Few suppliers of polishing products provide the super fine abrasive materials necessary to buff the finish without the application of a wax or filler material that hides, rather than removes, the scratches and/or swirl marks. Such fillers will eventually wash away, and the damage will be revealed.

The following materials and procedures supplied by Meguiar's Inc.* have been found to be effective in removing minor transportation damage and/or swirl marks. Any materials and procedures used must maintain the appearance and durability of the no-wax fluorine finish. The following procedure describes materials needed and recommended buffing methods.

*NOTE: Information concerning products from other manufacturers will be released as the products become available and are proven effective.
