Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement
Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning (Brake Dust Warning).


Removal Procedure




1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (Front Brake Rotor Replacement).
4. Remove the WSS cable mounting clip from the knuckle.
5. Remove the WSS cable mounting clip from the upper control arm.
6. Remove the WSS cable mounting clip from the frame attachment point.
7. Disconnect the WSS cable electrical connector.




8. Remove the wheel speed sensor (WSS) mounting bolt.

Caution: Carefully remove the sensor by pulling it straight out of the bore. DO NOT use a screwdriver, or other device to pry the sensor out of the bore. Prying will cause the sensor body to break off in the bore.

9. Remove the wheel speed sensor (5) from the hub/bearing assembly (4).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the WSS (5) into the hub/bearing assembly (4).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the WSS mounting bolt.

Tighten the WSS mounting bolt to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).




3. Install the WSS cable mounting clip to the knuckle.
4. Install the WSS cable mounting clip to the upper control arm.
5. Install the WSS cable mounting clip to the frame attachment point.
6. Connect the WSS cable electrical connector.
7. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (Front Brake Rotor Replacement).
8. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
9. Return to Diagnostic Starting Point - Antilock Brake System (Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview).
