Electronic Brake Control Module with Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement

CH-47830 - Holding Fixture

Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning (Brake Fluid Irritant Warning).





1. Remove the brake master cylinder and power brake booster assembly. Refer to Brake Master Cylinder with Power Brake Booster and Chassis Control Module Replacement (Brake Master Cylinder with Power Brake Booster and Chassis Control Module Replacement).
2. Install the CH-47830 - Holding Fixture (1) to the master cylinder assembly.
3. Position the CH-47830 - Holding Fixture with the master cylinder assembly in a vise.




4. Remove the power brake booster (1). Refer to Power Brake Booster Replacement (Power Brake Booster Replacement).




5. Remove the master cylinder reservoir (1). Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Replacement (Master Cylinder Reservoir Replacement).




6. Remove the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) bolts (1).




7. Remove the BPMV gasket (1) and the BPMV module assembly (2).
Discard the BPMV gasket.




8. Remove the brake fluid level sensor bracket bolt (1) and bracket (2) from the BPMV module assembly.

Installation Procedure

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).




1. Install the brake fluid level sensor bracket bolt (1) and bracket (2) to the BPMV module assembly and tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb in).




2. Install a new BPMV gasket (1) and the BPMV module assembly (2).

Note: Hand install the BPMV module assembly bolts prior to tightening the bolts to properly locate the BPMV module assembly.




3. Install the BPMV bolts (1) and tighten to 32 Nm (24 lb ft.




4. Install the master cylinder reservoir (1). Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Replacement (Master Cylinder Reservoir Replacement).




5. Install the power brake booster (1). Refer to Power Brake Booster Replacement (Power Brake Booster Replacement).




6. Remove the CH-47830 - Holding Fixture (1) from the master cylinder assembly.
7. Install the brake master cylinder and power brake booster assembly. Refer to Brake Master Cylinder with Power Brake Booster and Chassis Control Module Replacement (Brake Master Cylinder with Power Brake Booster and Chassis Control Module Replacement).
8. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) (Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure))Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) (Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual)).
