HVAC Module Assembly Replacement

J 43181 Quick Connect Connector Removal Tool

Removal Procedure

1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac-N-Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the windshield solvent heater. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Heater Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the windshield washer solvent container. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement (Service and Repair).




5. Using the J 43181 disconnect the inlet heater hose from the heater core.

1. Install the J 43181 to the heater core pipe.
2. Close the tool around the heater core pipe.
3. Firmly pull the tool into the quick connect end of the heater hose.
4. Firmly grasp the heater hose. Pull the heater hose forward in order to disengage the inlet hose from the heater core.

6. Using the J 43181 disconnect the surge tank outlet hose from the heater core.

1. Install the J 43181 to the heater core pipe.
2. Close the tool around the heater core pipe.
3. Firmly pull the tool into the quick connect end of the heater hose.
4. Firmly grasp the heater hose. Pull the heater hose forward in order to disengage the surge tank outlet hose from the heater core.

7. Remove the accumulator. Refer to Air Conditioning Accumulator Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Move the instrument panel into the service position. Refer to Instrument Panel Service Positioning (Instrument Panel Service Positioning).
9. Remove the HVAC module drain hose.
10. Disconnect the electrical harnesses and the ground connections from the HVAC module assembly.




11. Remove the nuts (4) from the HVAC module assembly (2).
12. Remove the bolts (3) from the HVAC module assembly (2).
13. Remove the HVAC module assembly (2) from the vehicle (1).

Installation Procedure




1. If replacing the HVAC module, transfer the components from the old HVAC module as necessary.
2. Install the HVAC module assembly (2) to the vehicle (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Install the nuts (4) to the HVAC module assembly (2).

Tighten the nuts to 9 Nm (80 lb in).

4. Install the bolts (4) to the HVAC module assembly (2).

Tighten the bolts to 4 Nm (35 lb in).

5. Connect the electrical harnesses and the ground connections.
6. Install the HVAC module drain hose.
7. Install the instrument panel back into position. Refer to Instrument Panel Service Positioning (Instrument Panel Service Positioning).
8. Install the accumulator. Refer to Air Conditioning Accumulator Replacement (Service and Repair).




9. Install the surge tank outlet hose to the heater core.
Note: Firmly push the quick connect onto the heater core pipe until you hear an audible click.

10. Pull the surge tank outlet hose to ensure the connection.
11. Install the inlet heater hose to the heater core.
Note: Firmly push the quick connect onto the heater core pipe until you hear an audible click.

12. Pull the inlet heater hose to ensure the connection.
13. Install the windshield solvent heater. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Heater Replacement (Service and Repair).
14. Install the windshield washer solvent container. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement (Service and Repair).
15. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).
16. Fill the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vac-N-Fill) (Service and Repair)Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static Fill) (Service and Repair).
