C0717
DTC C0716 or C0717
Diagnostic Instructions
* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis (Strategy Based Diagnosis) for an overview of the diagnostic approach.
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions (Diagnostic Procedure Instructions) provides an overview of each diagnostic category.
DTC Descriptors
DTC C0716 00
- Left Rear Solenoid Circuit
DTC C0717 00
- Right Rear Solenoid Circuit
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit Description
The air suspension adjusts the vehicle suspension ride height. The air suspension control module (ASCM) controls the left rear and right rear air control valves based on input from the position sensors to keep the vehicle level from front to back and side to side.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* Battery voltage is between 9-16 volts.
* The valve solenoid is commanded ON.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The control valve solenoid control circuit is shorted to voltage, ground, or open when solenoid activation is attempted 4 times.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* The air suspension system will be inoperative.
* The SERVICE SUSPENSION SYSTEM message will be displayed.
Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC
* When the fault is no longer present, DTC C0716 and C0717 will change from a current DTC to a history DTC on the next ignition cycle.
* DTC C0716 and C0717 will be cleared from history after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification
Ignition ON, activate the air suspension LR/RR Control Valve Command ON and OFF function with the scan tool output control. The control valve solenoids should turn ON and OFF with each command.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the appropriate air suspension control valve solenoid.
2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the solenoid control circuit terminal at the connector and ground.
• If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to voltage.
3. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal and ground.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuits for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the valve auto level control solenoid replacement.
4. Connect a test lamp between the B+ circuit terminal and the control circuit terminal.
5. Command the appropriate control valve ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
• If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the air suspension control module.
• If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the air suspension control module.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
* Valve Automatic Level Control Solenoid Replacement (Dual Compressors) (Service and Repair)
* Suspension Position Calibration (Suspension Position Calibration)
* Control Module References (Programming and Relearning) for ASCM replacement, setup, and programming
