HandsFreeLink System Symptom Troubleshooting - Bluetooth cell phone cannot be paired

Bluetooth cell phone cannot be paired (with navigation)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first 12 Volt Battery Test.
- The HFL system can pair a total of six cell phones. If the HFL system is full, you must delete one cell phone before you can pair another.
- Check if the customer's Bluetooth cell phone is compatible with the Honda HFL system and that there are no known issues (see the Owner's Manual).
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. Press the HFL TALK button.

Does a beep sound?

YES -

- If you have the customer's Bluetooth phone, go to step 4.
- If you have not the customer's Bluetooth phone, go to step 3.

NO -

Go to The HFL messages and voice prompts cannot be heard or are weak.

- With navigation The HFL Messages and Voice Prompts Cannot Be Heard or Are Weak(With Navigation)
- Without navigation The HFL Messages and Voice Prompts Cannot Be Heard or Are Weak(Without Navigation)

3. Pair a known-good Bluetooth phone to the customer's vehicle.

Can you pair the Bluetooth phone, and does it operate normally?

YES -

The customer's Bluetooth phone is defective or not compatible.

NO -

Substitute a known-good HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair.

4. Pair the customer's Bluetooth phone to a known-good vehicle.

Can you pair the Bluetooth phone, and does it operate normally?

YES -

Substitute a known-good HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair.

NO -

The customer's Bluetooth cell phone is defective or not compatible. Check online at handsfreelink.Honda.com, or call the HFL call center at 888-528-7876 to make sure the customer's Bluetooth cell phone is compatible with the HFL system and that there are no known issues.
