Rear Differential Housing Assembly Removal and Installation

1. Remove the rear differential mounting stiffener and rear differential mounting bracket B Service and Repair.

2. Remove the nine mounting bolts in a crisscross pattern in several steps, then remove the differential housing assembly (A), the two dowel pins (B) (if equipped), and the oil seals (C).






3. Remove the dirt and oil from the sealing surfaces. Apply liquid gasket (P/N 08717-0004, 08718-0001,08718-0003, 08718-0004, or 08718-0009) evenly to the sealing surface. Install the component within 5 minutes of applying the liquid gasket. Make sure you seal the entire circumference of the bolt holes to prevent fluid leakage.

NOTE:

- If you apply liquid gasket P/N 08718-0012, the component must be installed within 4 minutes.
- If too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket, remove the old liquid gasket and residue, then reapply the new liquid gasket.
- Allow it to cure at least 30 minutes after assembly before filling the differential with the recommended fluid.





4. Install the differential housing assembly (A), then torque the nine mounting bolts (B) in a crisscross pattern in several steps.

NOTE: If the dowel pins (C) equipped, do not install the dowel pins on the differential carrier case, discard it.





5. Install the new oil seals (D).

6. Reinstall rear differential mounting brackets B and the rear differential mounting stiffener Service and Repair.
