DTC Troubleshooting: P1586 (23)

DTC P1586:

Battery Current Sensor Signal Malfunction

NOTE:

- Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data, and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
- If the DTC cannot be cleared, do the troubleshooting for DTC U1204.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

3. Start the engine.

4. Check the SOC in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

Is the SOC 25% or more ?

YES -

Go to step 6.

NO -

Go to step 5.

5. Hold the engine speed between 3,500 rpm and 4,000 rpm without load (in P or N (CVT model)) (in neutral (M/T model)) until the SOC increases to 25%.

6. Test drive at 25 mph (40 km/h) in D (CVT model) or in 3rd gear or higher (M/T model).

7. Press the brake pedal, and stop the vehicle slowly.

8. Monitor the OBD STATUS for P0A3F, P0A5E, P0A5F, P0A61, P0A62, P0A64, P0A65, P0A78, P0AC0, P0AC1, P0AC2, P0B0F, P0B10, P0B11, P0BE6, P0BEA, P0BEE, P0BFD, P1440, P15A5, and P15AA in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Does the HDS indicate PASSED?

YES -

Go to step 9.

NO -

- If the HDS indicates FAILED: Go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
- If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED: Keep the ignition switch ON (II) until a result is indicated.

9. Monitor the OBD STATUS for P1586 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Does the HDS indicate FAILED?

YES -

Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the battery current sensor and the MCM. If the connections and the terminals are OK, replace the battery module Service and Repair, then go to step 10.

NO -

If the HDS indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the battery current sensor and the MCM. If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to step 4.

10. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

11. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

12. Start the engine.

13. Check the SOC in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

Is the SOC 25% or more?

YES -

Go to step 15.

NO -

Go to step 14.

14. Hold the engine speed between 3,500 rpm and 4,000 rpm without load (in P or N (CVT model)) (in neutral (M/T model)) until the SOC increases to 25%.

15. Test drive at 25 mph (40 km/h) in D (CVT model) or in 3rd gear or higher (M/T model).

16. Press the brake pedal, and stop the vehicle slowly.

17. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P1586 indicated?

YES -

Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the battery current sensor and the MCM, then go to step 1.

NO -

Go to step 18.

18. Monitor the OBD STATUS for P1586 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Does the HDS indicate PASSED?

YES -

Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs were indicated in step 17, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.

NO -

If the HDS indicates FAILED, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the battery current sensor and the MCM, then go to step 1. If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to step 13.
