Manual Transmission Installation

Special Tools Required

- Subframe Alignment Pin 070AG-SJAA10S
- Engine Support Hanger, A and Reds AAR-T1256
- 2008 V6 Attachment Arm SIL02C000033
- Subframe Adapter VSB02C000016
- Engine Hanger Balance Bar VSB02C000019

NOTE: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.

1. Check the release bearing, and reinstall the release bearing and the release fork with the appropriate grease.

2. Make sure the 14 x 20 mm dowel pin (A) and the 10 x 20 mm dowel pin (B) are installed in the clutch housing.





3. Place the transmission on the transmission jack, and raise it to the engine level.

4. Align the transmission mainshaft and the clutch pressure plate, then move the transmission inward until there is no gap between the transmission housing and the engine block.

5. Install the lower transmission mounting bolts.

6. Install the clutch cover (A) and the CKP sensor cover (B).





7. Install the intermediate shaft Intermediate Shaft Installation.

8. Install both driveshafts Driveshaft Installation.

9. Install the lower transmission mount (A) with new bolts.






10. Install the front engine mount bracket (A) with new bolts.






11. Support the front subframe with the subframe adapter (VSB02C000016) and the transmission jack.






12. Position the steering gearbox washers (A) on the front subframe (B), and lift the subframe up to the body.





13. Loosely install new subframe mounting bolts (C), new rear stiffener mounting bolts (D), the front stiffener mounting bolts (E), the front stiffeners (F), and the rear stiffeners (G).

14. Partially tighten the right rear subframe bolt (A); insert the subframe alignment pin (B) through the positioning slot (C) on the rear stiffener, through the positioning hole (D) on the front subframe, and into the positioning hole on the body, then tighten the subframe bolt.





15. Partially tighten the left rear subframe mounting bolt in the same manner as in step 14.

16. Partially tighten the right and left front subframe mounting bolts.

17. Tighten the right rear mounting bolt to the specified torque with the subframe alignment pin in the positioning hole.

18. Tighten the left rear mounting bolt to the specified torque with the subframe alignment pin in the positioning hole.

19. Tighten the right and left front mounting bolt to the specified torque.

20. Check that the positioning holes and slots are aligned using the subframe alignment pin.

21. Tighten the rear and front stiffener mounting bolts to the specified torque.

22. Remove the transmission jack and the subframe adapter.

23. Install the power steering line holder bolt (A) and the power steering line to the clamp (B).






24. Install the lower transmission mount nuts (A).






25. Install the subframe middle mount on both sides with new bolts.






26. Install exhaust pipe A with new gaskets (B) and new self-locking nuts Service and Repair.





27. Connect the knuckle ball joint onto the lower arm Front Lower Arm Removal/Installation.

28. Install the damper fork.

29. Install the front wheels, and set them in the straight-ahead position.

30. Lower the vehicle.

31. Install the upper transmission mounting bolts (A).






32. Install the upper transmission mount bracket base (A) with new bolts, and connect the ground cable (B) by installing its mount bolt.






33. Install the new upper transmission mount bracket mounting bolts (A).

NOTE: If the TORX bolt (B) was removed by mistake during removal, the upper transmission bracket must be replaced as an assembly.






34. Install the power steering stiffener plates (A), and loosely tighten new steering gearbox mounting bolts (B) and the steering gearbox stiffener bolts (C).

NOTE: Make sure the lower washers placed in step 12 are correctly positioned before installing the bolts.






35. Install new rear engine mount mounting bolts (A).






36. Install the power steering gearbox mounting bracket (A), and tighten the bolts to the specified torque, then install the power steering heat shield (B).





37. Tighten the driver's side of the steering gearbox mounting bolts and the steering gearbox stiffener bolts to the specified torque alternately in two steps.

38. Install the power steering line holder (A) and the power steering hose clamp (B).






39. Install a new front engine mount mounting bolt (A), the front engine mount stop (B), the vacuum hose bracket (C) with new mounting nuts, and the harness bracket (D), then connect the vacuum hose (E).





40. Remove the A and Reds engine support hanger, the engine hanger balance bar, and the 2008 V6 attachment arm from the engine.

41. Install the harness clamp bracket (A) to the rear cylinder head.






42. Install the connector bracket (A) to the front cylinder head.






43. Apply a light coat of super high temp urea grease (P/N 08798- 9002) to the end of the slave cylinder push rod. Install the slave cylinder and the bracket mounting nut. Be careful not to bend the clutch line.






44. Apply a light coat of silicone grease (P/N08C30-B0234M) to the cable ends (A) and connect the cable ends to the select lever (B) and the change lever (C), then install the shift cable bracket (D) and the lock pins (E). Do not bend or damage the shift cables.

NOTE: Make sure not to get any silicone grease on the terminal part of the connectors and switches, especially if you have silicone grease on your hands or gloves.






45. Install the harness bracket (A).






46. Install the starter (A) and the vacuum hose bracket (B).






47. Connect the positive starter cable (A) and the S terminal connector (B), and install the harness clamp (C).






48. Install the harness (A), the harness clamps (B), and the harness mounting bolt (C), then connect the reverse lockout solenoid connector (D).






49. Install the harness clips (A), then connect the back-up light switch connector (B), the input shaft (mainshaft) speed sensor connector (C), and the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor connector (D).






50. Install the strut brace (A) with the nuts (B), then install the brake booster vacuum hose to the clamp (C).






51. Install the under-hood fuse/relay box (A).





52. Refill the transmission with MTF to the proper level Service and Repair.

53. Install the front splash shield Front Splash Shield Replacement.

54. Install the battery base (A) with the intake air duct (B), and install the cable clamps (C).





55. Install the air cleaner assembly Service and Repair.

56. Do the battery installation procedure Removal and Replacement.

57. Install the splash separator (A) with the clip (B).






58. Install the front grille cover Front Grille Cover Replacement (2-Door).

59. Install the engine cover (A).





60. Reinstall the hood support struts to the proper locations on both sides of the hood.

61. Check the wheel alignment Service and Repair.

62. Check the shift lever and the clutch operation.

63. Test-drive the vehicle.
