Advanced Diagnostics - DTC P1673 (22): Motor Control Module (MCM) Relay Stays Activated






General Description
The motor control module (MCM) commands MCM relay 1 to turn ON or permit it to turn OFF. Normally, when MCM relay 1 is OFF, the MCM is in sleep mode. When the MCM remains powered even when the MCM commands MCM relay 1 to turn OFF for a specified duration, a malfunction is detected and a DTC is stored.

Malfunction Threshold
The MCM does not turn off for at least 5.0 seconds.

Driving Pattern
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and wait for at least 1 minute.
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the MCM memory. The MIL does not come on.

Conditions for clearing the DTC
The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
