Booming sound while driving with audio unit on or off (Part 2)

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

2. Connect a voltmeter between audio unit connector C (16P) terminal No. 12 to body ground.





3. Connect the HDS to the DLC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

5. Select PGM-FI SYSTEM with the HDS.

6. Select VTEC TEST in the INSPECTION MENU with the HDS.

7. Select ROCKER ARM OIL CONTROL SOLENOID A ON in the SOLENOID VALVE ACTIVATION with the HDS, and measure the voltage.

Is there about 10 V or more?

YES -

Replace the audio unit:

- With navigation Audio Unit Removal/Installation (With Navigation).�
- Without navigation Audio Unit Removal/Installation (Without Navigation).�

NO -

Go to step 8.

8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

9. Disconnect audio unit connector C (16P) and the engine mount control unit 16P connector ('10 model).

10. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.

11. Disconnect PCM connector A (49P).

12. Connect PCM connector A (49P) terminal No. 14 to body ground with a jumper wire.






13. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (16P) terminal No. 12 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 14.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the PCM.�

14. Remove the jumper wire.

15. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (16P) terminal No. 12 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the audio unit and the PCM.�

NO -

Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software PCM Update, or substitute a known-good PCM.�

16. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

17. Connect a voltmeter between audio unit connector C (16P) terminal No. 11 and body ground.





18. Connect the HDS to the DLC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

19. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

20. Select PGM-FI SYSTEM with the HDS.

21. Select VTEC TEST in the INSPECTION MENU with the HDS.

22. Select ROCKER ARM OIL CONTROL SOLENOID A (B2) COMMAND and RETURN signal ON with the HDS, by pressing the ENTER button, and measure the voltage.

Is there about 10 V or more?

YES -

Replace the audio unit:

- With navigation Audio Unit Removal/Installation (With Navigation).�
- Without navigation Audio Unit Removal/Installation (Without Navigation).�

NO -

Go to step 23.

23. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

24. Disconnect audio unit connector C (16P) and the engine mount control unit 16P connector ('10 model).

25. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.

26. Disconnect PCM connector A (49P).

27. Connect PCM connector A (49P) terminal No. 15 to body ground with a jumper wire.






28. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (16P) terminal No. 11 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 29.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the PCM.�

29. Remove the jumper wire.

30. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (16P) terminal No. 11 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the audio unit and the PCM.�

NO -

Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software PCM Update, or substitute a known-good PCM.�
