Low oil pressure indicator does not come on with the ignition switch in ON (II)

J35Z2 engine

1. Connect the HDS to the DLC.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the PCM. If it does not communicate, troubleshoot the DLC circuit Testing and Inspection.

4. Check for DTCs Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview. If a DTC is present, diagnose, and repair the cause before continuing with this test.

5. Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

Is the gauge control module OK?

YES -

Go to step 6.

NO -

Replace the gauge control module .

6. Check the difference between the MAP SENSOR and BARO SENSOR in the PGM-FI DATA LIST with the HDS.

Is the difference between the sensor readings 19.9 kPa (0.20 kgf/cm2, 2.89 psi) or less?

YES -

Go to step 7.

NO -

Replace the PCM Service and Repair.

7. Check the ROCKER ARM OIL PRESSURE SENSOR in the PGM-FI DATA LIST with the HDS.

Is the 19.0 kPa (0.19 kgf/cm2, 2.76 psi) or less?

YES -

Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software ECM/PCM Update, or substitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM Service and Repair.

NO -

Replace the rocker arm oil pressure sensor Service and Repair.
