Auto Idle Stop System Troubleshooting

1. Do the idle stop system inspection Auto Idle Stop System Inspection.

Is auto idle stop working?

YES -

The system is OK at this time.�

NO -

Go to step 2.

2. Check under these conditions:

- ECT SENSOR 1 above 158 °F (70 °C) (DATA LIST of the PGM-FI SYSTEM)
- A/T D switch indicates ON (DATA LIST of the CVT SYSTEM)
- START CLUTCH FEEDBACK LEARN indicates COMPLETE (DATE LIST of the CVT SYSTEM)
- SOC above 50% (DATA LIST of the IMA SYSTEM)
- IMA BATTERY TEMPERATURE SENSOR 32-104 °F (0-40 °C) (DATA LIST of the IMA SYSTEM)
- Climate control off
- All electrical items (headlights, blower fan, rear window defogger, A/C, audio system, etc.) are off.
- No heavy load in the vehicle.
- Drive the vehicle on a flat road or downhill.
- Drive the vehicle until the radiator fan cycles twice.

3. Test drive under these conditions:

- Drive the vehicle at 25 mph (25 km/h), then stop it within 5-15 seconds.
- Press and hold the brake pedal until the vehicle stops. Do not pump the brake pedal.
- Keep the brake pedal pressed after the vehicle stops.

Is auto idle stop working?

YES -

The system is OK at this time.�

NO -

Go to step 4.

4. Check the BRAKE SWITCH in the PGM-FI SYSTEM DATALIST with the HDS.

Does it indicate ON when the brake pedal is pressed and OFF when the brake pedal is released?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Adjust the brake pedal position switch Adjustments. If needed, replace it.

5. Move the shift lever to N from D.

When the shift lever is in D, does the D indicator come on?

YES -

Go to step 6.

NO -

- Check the A/T gear position indicator circuit.
- Adjust the shift cable Adjustments.
- Inspect the transmission range switch Transmission Range Switch Test.

6. Do the all system DTCs check the HDS, and check these DTCs.

- DTC B1000 (MICU)
- DTC B1168 (METER)
- DTC B1206 (A/C)
- DTC B1207 (A/C)
- DTC B1227 (A/C)
- DTC B1228 (A/C)
- DTC B1233 (A/C)
- DTC B1234 (A/C)
- DTC B1241 (A/C)
- DTC B2989 (A/C)
- DTC B2990 (A/C)
- DTC B2994 (A/C)
- DTC B2995 (A/C)
- DTC B2998 (A/C)

Are any of these DTCs indicated?

YES -

Go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.�

NO -

Go to step 7.

7. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

8. Press the select/reset button, and check the outside temperature in the gauge display (A).





Is the outside temperature indicated?

YES -

The system is OK at this time.�

NO -

If the display indicated the wrong temperature, check the outside temperature sensor Outside Air Temperature Sensor Test. If the display did not indicate outside temperature, substitute a known-good climate control unit Climate Control Unit Removal/Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good climate control unit, replace the original climate control unit Climate Control Unit Removal/Installation.�
