Advanced Diagnostics - DTC U1204 (95): IMA-CAN Malfunction (Powertrain Control Module (PCM)- Motor Control Module (MCM))

General Description
The integrated motor assist-controller area network (IMA-CAN) uses two signal lines, IMACANH and IMACANL, and it receives and transmits multiple signals simultaneously to/from multiple control modules. When the information is not sent from the powertrain control module (PCM) through the IMA-CAN for a specified time continuously or when the information sent from the PCM is abnormal and this condition continues for a specified cycle, the motor control module (MCM) detects a malfunction of the IMA-CAN and when at least one other node is not malfunctioning after the time to detect BUS-OFF of the IMA-CAN has passed, a DTC is stored.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type, OBD Status

Enable Conditions

Malfunction Threshold
One of these conditions occurs:
- The information is not sent from the PCM through the IMA-CAN at least for 1 second and at least one other node is communicating after 2.0 seconds have passed.
- The information sent from the PCM through the IMA-CAN is abnormal at least 10 times and at least one other node is communicating after 2.0 seconds have passed.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM and the MCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
