DTC Troubleshooting: U0111
DTC U0111:
F-CAN Malfunction (PCM-BCM module)
NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
3. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
Are DTC U0028 and U0111 indicated at the same time?
YES -
Go to troubleshooting for DTC U0028 U0028.�
NO -
Go to step 4.
4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC U0111 indicated?
YES -
Go to step 6.
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MCM, the BCM module, and the PCM.�
6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
7. Remove the rear seat Rear Seat Removal/Installation.
8. Turn the battery module switch OFF.
9. Remove the IPU lid IPU Lid Removal/Installation.
10. Remove BCM module connector A (40P) Service and Repair.
11. Disconnect the MCM 20P connector MCM Replacement.
12. Check for continuity between BCM module connector terminal A1 and MCM 20P connector terminal No. 20.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 13.
NO -
Repair open in the wire between the BCM module (A1) and the MCM (No. 20), then go to step 14.
13. Check for continuity between BCM module connector terminal A21 and MCM 20P connector terminal No. 10.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Reconnect all connectors, and update the BCM module if it does not have the latest software Testing and Inspection, or substitute a known-good BCM module Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview, then go to step 14 and recheck. If DTC U0111 is not indicated after substitution, replace the original BCM module Service and Repair, then go to step 14.
NO -
Repair open in the wire between the BCM module (A21) and the MCM (No. 10), then go to step 14.
14. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
15. Reconnect all connectors.
16. Reinstall the IPU lid IPU Lid Removal/Installation, then turn the battery module switch ON High Voltage Safety.
17. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
18. Reset the PCM with the HDS.
19. Do the PCM idle learn procedure PCM Idle Learn Procedure.
20. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC U0111 indicated?
YES -
Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MCM, the BCM module, and the PCM, then go to step 1.
NO -
Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.�
