Advanced Diagnostics - DTC U0111 (100): F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Condition Monitor (BCM) Module-Motor Control Module (MCM))

General Description
The controller area network (CAN) transmits/receives pulsing signals to/from the control modules simultaneously by using two signal lines (CANH and CANL). When the information is not sent from the battery condition monitor (BCM) module through the F-CAN for a specified time continuously or when the information sent from the BCM module is abnormal and this condition continues for a specified cycle, the motor control module (MCM) detects a malfunction of the F-CAN and when at least one other node is not malfunctioning after the time to detect BUS-OFF of the F-CAN has passed, a DTC is stored.

Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type, OBD Status

Enable Conditions

Malfunction Threshold
One of these conditions occurs:
- The information is not sent from the BCM module through the F-CAN for at least 0.5 second and at least one other node is communicating after 2 seconds have passed.
- The information sent from the BCM module through the F-CAN is abnormal at least 10 times and at least one other node is communicating after 2 seconds have passed.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the IMA system indicator does not come on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the MCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC
The IMA system indicator is cleared if the malfunction does not return in the next trip in which the diagnostic runs. The IMA system indicator, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
