Advanced Diagnostics - DTC P1437 (41): Motor Control Module (MCM) Circuit Shorted






General Description
The motor control module (MCM) detects a short circuit malfunction in the 3-phase section of the motor power inverter (MPI) module which is detected with the MPI module. When the MPI module short circuit condition occurs for a specified cycle within a set time, the MCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

The MPI module is short circuited eight times within 25 seconds.

Diagnosis Details

Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM and the MCM memory.

Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the battery.
