DTC Troubleshooting: P0A27 (46)
DTC P0A27 (46):
High Voltage connector/Bypass connector Stays Activated
NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data, and review the general troubleshooting information Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Clear the DTC with the HDS Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and wait 30 seconds.
4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
5. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0A27 (46) in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
Does the screen indicate FAILED?
YES -
Go to step 6.
NO -
If the screen indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the high voltage connector, the bypass connector, the MCM, and the BCM module. If the screen indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to step 1.
6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
7. Turn the battery module switch OFF High Voltage Safety.
8. Remove the IPU lid IPU Lid Removal/Installation.
9. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and then turn to LOCK (0). Wait 1 minute, then measure the voltage between body ground and BCM module connector terminals A13 and A14 individually.
Is there 12 V battery voltage on either terminal?
YES -
Go to step 21.
NO -
Go to step 10.
10. Remove the battery module Service and Repair.
11. Measure the resistance between high voltage connector terminals (A) and (B).
'06-08 models
'09-11 models
Is there about 0 Ohms?
YES -
Replace the battery module Service and Repair, then go to step 13.
NO -
Go to step 12.
12. Measure the resistance between high voltage connector terminals (A) and (B).
'06-08 models
'09-11 models
Is there 38-42 Ohms?
YES -
Replace the battery module Service and Repair, then go to step 13.
NO -
Go to step 29.
13. Reconnect all connectors.
14. Reinstall the IPU lid IPU Lid Removal/Installation, and turn the battery module switch ON High Voltage Safety.
15. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
16. Clear the DTC with the HDS Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
17. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and wait 30 seconds.
18. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
19. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC P0A27 (46) indicated?
YES -
Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the high voltage connector, the bypass connector, the MCM, and the BCM module, then go to step 1.
NO -
Go to step 20.
20. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0A27 (46) in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
Does the screen indicate PASSED?
YES -
Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs were indicated in step 19, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.�
NO -
If the screen indicates FAILED, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the high voltage connector, the bypass connector, the MCM, and the BCM module, then go to step 1. If the screen indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to step 17.
21. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
22. Reinstall the IPU lid IPU Lid Removal/Installation, then turn the battery module switch ON High Voltage Safety.
23. Update the BCM module if it does not have the latest software Testing and Inspection, or substitute a known-good BCM module Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
24. Clear the DTC with the HDS Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
25. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and wait 30 seconds.
26. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
27. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC P0A27 (46) indicated?
YES -
Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the high voltage connector, the bypass connector, the MCM, and the BCM module. If the BCM module was updated, substitute a known-good BCM module Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview, then go to step 25. If the BCM module was substituted, go to step 1.
NO -
Go to step 28.
28. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0A27 (46) in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
Does the screen indicate PASSED?
YES -
If the BCM module was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the BCM module was substituted, replace the original BCM module Service and Repair. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs were indicated in step 27, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.�
NO -
If the screen indicates FAILED, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the high voltage connector, the bypass connector, the MCM, and the BCM module. If the BCM module was updated, substitute a known-good BCM module Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview, then go to step 25. If the BCM module was substituted, go to step 1. If the screen indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to step 25.
29. Reinstall the battery module Service and Repair and the IPU lid IPU Lid Removal/Installation, then turn the battery module switch ON High Voltage Safety.
30. Update the MCM if it does not have the latest software Testing and Inspection, or substitute a known-good MCM Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
31. Clear the DTC with the HDS Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.
32. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and wait 30 seconds.
33. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
34. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC P0A27 (46) indicated?
YES -
Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the high voltage connector, the bypass connector, the MCM, and the BCM module. If the MCM was updated, substitute a known-good MCM Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview, then go to step 32. If the MCM was substituted, go to step 1.
NO -
Go to step 35.
35. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0A27 (46) in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.
Does the screen indicate PASSED?
YES -
If the MCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the MCM was substituted, replace the original MCM MCM Replacement. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs were indicated in step 34, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.�
NO -
If the screen indicates FAILED, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the high voltage connector, the bypass connector, the MCM, and the BCM module. If the MCM was updated, substitute a known-good MCM Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview, then go to step 32. If the MCM was substituted, go to step 1. If the screen indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to step 32.
