Reverse Lockout Solenoid Disassembly/Reassembly




M/T Reverse Lockout Solenoid Disassembly/Reassembly

NOTE: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.

1. Do the battery removal procedure. Removal and Replacement

2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Service and Repair

3. Support the under engine/transmission with a floor jack.






4. Remove the upper transmission mount bracket bolts (A).
NOTE: Do not remove the TORX bolt (B) from the upper transmission mount. If the TORX bolt is removed, the upper transmission mount must be replaced as an assembly.






5. Remove the three upper transmission mount bracket bolts (A), the upper transmission mount bracket (B), the ground cable mount bolt (C), and the ground cable (D).

6. Disconnect the reverse lockout solenoid connector.






7. Remove the reverse lockout solenoid (A), the select lock pin (B), and the select lock pin spring (C).






8. Remove the pin (A), and select lock cam (B).

9. Install the components of the reverse lockout solenoid in the reverse order of removal.

10. Clean any the dirt and oil from the reverse lockout solenoid sealing surface.






11. Apply liquid gasket, P/N 08717-0004, 08718-0001, 08718-0003, or 08718-0009 evenly to the transmission housing mating surface of the reverse lockout solenoid. Install the component within 5 minutes of applying the liquid gasket.
NOTE:

- If apply liquid gasket P/N 08718-0012, the component must be installed within 4 minutes.

- If too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket, remove the old liquid gasket and residue, then reapply new liquid gasket.





12. Install the select lock pin spring (A), the select lock pin (B), and the reverse lockout solenoid (C) with the bolts.

13. Connect the reverse lockout solenoid connector.






14. Install the upper transmission mount bracket (A) with new bolts, and connect the ground cable (B) by installing its mounting bolt.






15. Install the new upper transmission mount bracket bolts (A).

16. Remove the floor jack that suppress the engine/transmission.

17. Install the air cleaner assembly. Service and Repair

18. Do the battery installation procedure. Removal and Replacement
